Gin Kaku Ji is a Zen temple whose English name translates as Temple of the Silver Pavilion. Gin Kaku Ji is probably somewhat less well known and less photographed than its counterpart Kin Kaku Ji, but is a wonderful place to visit even so.

The original building was constructed in the year 1482 AD as a quiet retreat for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa.
